In the news, there was an issue with Forza Horizon 5 using the name on the Microsoft account. A lot of times, it would deadname someone because they do not know how to change the name on the Microsoft Account.

I was going to do a screen recording but it showed my kids names as I monitor thier accounts so I am doing it this way. 

Most people would have the same instinct I did. Go to xbox.com

DO NOT DO THIS, IT WILL DO NOTHING. I wasted hours trying to figure this out and it was bothering me. My legal name is tied to abuse and other things I would rather not say here and it was important to me to change my name so my gaming PC would have it registered in the console companion app as AVIVA not Amanda. 

1. Go to Microsoft.com and Click on your Profile Pic

2. Another Tab or Window Will Open up and Show Your Account. Click On the Name On Your Account. 

3. Click Edit Next to Your Name and Change It. It will Changed Across The Rest of Your Different Apps On Microsoft Including Gaming. You Won’t Be Dead Named in Games on XBox or PC Again. 

I hope this has been helpful. I did not realize other people did not figure this out until I saw the article. I would have done it sooner.
